Ember is an energy producer dedicated to developing coalbed methane (CBM) in Alberta, Canada. Based in Calgary, Ember was formed in mid-2005 through a reorganization of Thunder Energy Inc., one of the early investors in Canadian CBM. Ember is now one of the top five producers from the Horseshoe Canyon coals, Canada's main source of CBM and one of  the most technologically advanced CBM plays. The company is well positioned for future growth with a large land base, drilling inventory and extensive experience with CBM.

INDUSTRY-LEADING POSITION

Ember is pursuing CBM and natural gas from complementary horizons:

Horseshoe Canyon Coals (Malmo/Buffalo Lake/Fenn-Big Valley/Acme project areas). This coal formation is found at shallow depths of 125-700 metres and are “dry” meaning they produce little or no water. After drilling, these CBM wells produce natural gas immediately (methane is the main component of natural gas).

Edmonton/Belly River/Medicine Hat sands. These conventional formations are found at depths of 400-1200 metres and also produce natural gas. The natural gas can be produced to the surface using the same wellbore as a CBM well making for a cost-effective way to increase production.
