Where is coalbed methane?
Alberta has a large concentration of coal and therefore, coalbed methane.

Horseshoe Canyon coals are located at depths of 150-700 metres.
Mannville coals are located at depths of 800-1,300 metres.
How is coalbed metheane created?
Millions of years ago dead plant remains collected in swampy areas throughout Western Canada and the United States.
The plant material was buried beneath deposits of sand and clay. Naturally occurring pressures and heat forced it to harden. This process is known as coalification.
When depth and pressure are combined, coal generates methane gas which is stored within the microscopic structure of the coal itself.
• Ember is pursuing CBM projects in two separate coal trends: Horseshoe Canyon coals at Fenn-Big Valley; and the Mannville coal trend which is found underlying three of its properties, Manola, Rosalind and Fenn-Big Valley
Ember has CBM resources in excess of 1 tcf.
