What is the impact on land use?
Horseshoe Canyon CBM Projects
With the Horseshoe Canyon coals, the lease during drilling measures about 360 feet x 360 feet, which is reduced down to about 50 feet x 50 feet when a well is placed on production. Current regulations allow for the drilling of four wells per section. Ember drills and produces these wells with minimal disturbance.
Mannville CBM Project
To minimize land use, Ember’s Mannville CBM projects are designed around a central pad. With Mannville coals, 3-6 wells are drilled from a single pad located in a corner of a section to minimize impact on agricultural applications.
CBM accounts for about 10% of natural gas production in the U.S., and about 2% in Canada.
